EPA 2D: Perform Re-evaluation of Care

SCOPE OF WORK: This activity includes assessing post-treatment as a critical part of self-assessment and key to comprehensive oral health care optimizing care strategies including prognosis.

Skills
  • Carry out a comprehensive post treatment assessment at the conclusion of a patient’s active treatment to include
    1. assessment of previous treatment
    2. determination of current disease status and prognosis
    3. identification of ongoing and future treatment needs
  • Carry out specific prescriptive reevaluation for patients who have undergone caries, periodontal, and/or endodontic therapy
  • Accurately communicate to patient findings from re- assessment and recommendations for ongoing or future treatment
  • Apply principles of behavioral sciences and person-centered care to promote, maintain, and improve a patient’s oral and systemic health
  • Implement patient specific oral health promotion and disease prevention programs and resources
  • Engage in ethical clinical decision making
